Pregnancy update: Week 35

Weight: 62.5kg (+0.5kg since last week, overall +15.5kg)

Symptoms: acne, backache, pelvic pain, braxton hicks contractions, shortness of breath, water retention

Summary of the week:

20/8: late night mild contractions, nil pain.

21/8: super active Atty at night. had mild contractions and pelvic pain from walking more today. retook bloods for iron and vitamin D today.

22/8: Antenatal class - Topic 4 on practical skills for labour. this class was so fun. it was conducted by a physio who was super animated. she was like Honey, here there and everywhere, never staying in one spot for too long. never a dull moment in her class haha. we went through various positions for labour and also included massage techniques for partners to learn hehee, relaxation methods, breathing techniques etc.

23/8: Last antenatal class! on Waterbirth! apparently there are lots of restrictions for waterbirth. if baby comes preterm then cannot do waterbirth... so Atty needs to hang in there until 37 weeks at least hehee. keep getting contractions these days, so feeling quite anxious if she is going to come early...

24/8: abdominal discomfort today, likely due to a combination of braxton hicks and heartburn or indigestion...

25/8: whenever i wake up during the night to stretch, Atty also wakes up and moves around haha. maybe i woke her up with my movements. or maybe she is moving all along and i only become aware of it when i wake up. today is the 9th dating anniversary for King and I~ no special celebrations though... we just went out to eat and went to watch the movie Atomic Blond. got McDonald's hotcakes for brunch and then fried chicken after the movie.

26/8: took home maternity photos today. see previous post for photos~ still having ongoing contractions, especially at night and in the morning.

Pregnancy update: Week 34

Weight: 62kg (+0.6kg since last week, overall +15kg)

Symptoms: acne, backache, pelvic pain, braxton hicks contractions, shortness of breath, water retention

Summary of the week:

13/8: Braxton hicks contractions at 7+am, very mild with nil pain. Dreamt that i managed to fill 2 bottles worth of breastmilk to the brim. Milk came easily and i was trying to store them but had no cooler bag. I poured them from one bottle to another as it was filled up and i was worried it would spill since it's at the brim. then i wrapped it up with clingwrap or something and took it down to the carpark to store in the car (i was at some high rise apartment or company building and the car was parked at the ground floor carpark). well, hopefully my breastmilk supply is as plentiful as my dream's!

14/8: had some contractions around 9+pm which was triggered by laughing too much LOL. King was search for 'cable' on gumtree but didn't yield any results, and when i took a look at it... it was because he searched for 'cable' within the 'Rabbit' category HAHAHAA. somehow i found it so funny and laughed non-stop, bringing on contractions hahaaa...!

15/8: i seem to be feeling more hungry recently, especially in the early am and late at night. today felt super hungry at lunch time ?delayed satiety. have water retention/swelling today, my ring feels so tight and even left a mark on my finger (my ring is usually quite loose).. my double eyelids are super obvious and my face is puffy too. anyway, went to another antenatal class today - topic 3 on birth interventions. so scary, so many interventions.

16/8: impatient/frustrated/irritated during discussions with King regarding the electrical plan for Lymn Avenue (the next day is our meeting with Clipsal)

17/8: early am contractions. not timed but lasted quite long.. more than 3 mins? accompanied with back pain and pelvic pressure.

18/8: got frustrated/irritated with King again because he has been taking too long to sort out his tax. i got weepy and then Honey jumped up onto the ledge by the dining area to see me.. she also stood up and looked in for a while <3 that sweet bunny. had contractions around 9pm again... mild but with some discomfort

19/8: very mild and few braxton hicks late night, nil pain.

Selections time: Clipsal

had appointment with Clipsal today at 1pm to discuss the electrical plan and layout for Lymn Avenue. it took 3.5 hours omg... the longest ever. luckily i insisted on us planning out where we wanted to have the light and switches and power outlets located because they didn't have it planned out at all. otherwise it would have taken even longer.

at night i had a dinner appointment at my lecturer Kaye's place. there was this eggplant dish that was really yummy, too bad i did not take any photos of the food. she also has all sorts of tea... and different sizes tea pots for 1, or 2 or for more haha. the rest had wine but since i couldn't have alcohol, i pretty much had the tea all to myself. the tea was pretty nice, apparently from T2.. some rose, papaya and green tea mix. Kaye also gave us some of her homemade potpourri and i also got this bunch of flowers that she grew in her garden.

Pregnancy update: Week 33

Weight: 61.4kg (+1kg since last week, overall +14.4kg) heh, now i just hope i'll put on under 20kg for this whole pregnancy.

Symptoms: acne, shortness of breath, braxton hicks, pelvic girdle pain, backache

Summary of the week:

7/8: super active Atty today, stretching and kicking and moving a lot more than usual!

8/8: antenatal education series topic 2 on active labor and birth. got a little irritated and frustrated with King because he wasn't paying attention during the class and didn't even take any notes. later when i asked him questions like what number to call if i'm having contractions, or how to know when to go to the hospital (frequency and duration of contractions)... he couldn't remember anything at all! urgh!

9/8: Atty seems to have moved positions again, my tummy is lopsided and i felt jabs and kicks around the centre and towards the right side at times.

10/8: braxton hicks contractions lasting few minutes with some back pain and slight crampy pain

11/8: around midnight and early am had very frequent contractions accompanied with lower back pain and crampy pain. some contractions lasted up to 5mins! and i was having 2-3 contractions in 10minutes... and it kept on going all the way to 2+am (later i fell asleep so not sure if there were anymore) i was freaking out wondering whether i was going into labor! i had so many thoughts going through my head:
- Atty's not finished developing yet... she still doesn't have surfactant for her lungs.. she needs to wait for a few more weeks!
- I haven't packed my hospital bag at all! and i don't know what to pack omg...
- Haven't finished buying Atty's stuff!
- Car seat is not even installed in the car yet!
- We haven't even set up the place ready for Atty yet!
it was quite scary... but good thing it was a false alarm. but with all those worries i didn't sleep well. woke up at 7+am and also had some mild contractions... then none noticed in the day. later that night around 11+pm noticed mild contractions again.

12/8: frustrated and irritated with King again... we went all the way to Willunga, Mclaren Vale and Carrick Hill to take maternity photos again, but he was so unprepared that he didn't even figure out how to use the self-timer feature. so in the end we couldn't get any couple shots with the camera at all urgh! and prior to that i had reminded him to familiarize himself with the camera multiple times... but he did not do it at all!

Selections time: Beaumont Tiles and Carrera Kitchens

2 selections appointments today!

the previous day we already shortlisted color themes so we had a guide when choosing tile patterns/colors to match the overall theme.

tile selection at Beaumont Tiles at 9am was pretty straightforward, we only had to decide upon a cool or warm tone for the bathrooms... good thing was that the floor tiles we chose had matching wall tiles. we went with the same tiles for the laundry. then the kitchen splashback was pretty similar to the bathroom color theme. and the outdoor tiles was pretty much what we shortlisted with dad and mum. and i didn't know the grout color could be selected too! that's good which ensures that the color contrast between the tiles and grout won't be too drastic. definitely need to remember to get a grout sealer to prevent discoloration of the grout. we also got to take samples of the tiles we selected, which turned out to be really useful later.

although the selection was quite straightforward overall it still took about 1.5hours with all the paperwork etc. we were done around 10:30am and headed back home to feed Honey her lunch before our next selections appointment at 11:30am with Carrera Kitchens.

the appointment with Carrera Kitchens was much more complicated with extensions to the kitchen island, countertops, overhead cupboards etc... once again it was calls and messages with mum and dad haha. then we also upgrades to our bathroom vanity and walk in closet so spent a signifiant amount of time discussing options. then of course choosing the colors for the countertops and cabinet doors. good thing we brought along the samples of the floor and wall tiles from Beaumont Tiles so we could put all the colors together to determine if the colors will harmonize! we spent a good 3 hours at Carrera Kitchens, super draining!

Selections time: Direct Interiors

sanitaryware selections today!

decided on wash basins, toilets, shower screens, bathtub, shower accessories, kitchen sinks, and built-in wardrobe styles.

despite dad and mum having looked at the product selection beforehand, there was still a lot of coordination to be done during the appointment due to upgrade costs or issues with the layout like not enough space to fit 750mm towel racks in the bathrooms... or additional options like bidet provisions/addition water tap provisions etc... it was a flurry of text messages and calls hahaa.

the selections really took about 3 hours in the end, phew~

*Decided to change my weekly updates to be in line with the "official" EDD, so week changes are now on Sunday instead of Tuesday.

Selections time

our house building project is finally progressing! went for our first selections appointment today at Smeg kitchen appliances and chose the oven, stoves and range hood.

after that we went to the showrooms to check out the other selections since dad and mum will be out of town during the other scheduled appointments. quite a fruitful day as we visited showrooms for the bricks, tiles, sanitaryware, as well as countertops/cabinets. got a little cross-eyed with all the different color selections though. don't know if all our selections will end up being harmonious. need to do more research on matching the various colors together and deciding on a color palette for the house. anyway, i think we were quite efficient as we visited so many places all in an afternoon.

oh, and prior to all that we also stopped by a place selling glassware. i'm trying to buy small glass jars that can freeze breastmilk and also can be used for freezing baby food in future. managed to find 124ml glass jars but the problem is that we need to make a minimum purchase of $75... and 10 of those glass jars is only $12+. need to consolidate all that we need and then make the purchase. maybe i'll get a range of glass jars with different volumes.

Pregnancy update: Week 31

Weight: 59.8kg (+0.4kg in the past week, overall +12.8kg)

Symptoms: acne, heartburn, nasal congestion, shortness of breath, stretchmarks (have had them for a few weeks now.. light pinkish red streaks on the bottom area of my tummy. they seem to be lengthening and darkening gradually too.. and more are showing up)

Summary of the week:

25/7 woke up around 3:30am due to reflux that brought up stomach contents all the way to the back of my throat. woke up coughing.. i guess this is how people get aspiration pneumonia. tried to drink quite a bit of water to neutralize the acidity but didn't really help. tried to turn to my right side to sleep (was sleeping on my left side) but as soon as i laid down the reflux would act up. had to sleep propped up... not very good sleep quality.

also went for our breastfeeding antenatal class today. my breathlessness is getting worse and i had nasal congestion at night which made breathing even more difficult.

26/7 the heartburn continues... still have to sleep propped up. i think sleeping propped up will be the theme for the rest of the pregnancy since Atty is growing bigger and really pressing against my stomach at times.

27/7 haemorrhoids bled++ after bowel movement. and then continued bleeding... sighs... hello haemorrhoids, i'm already anaemic so please be cooperative and let me conserve some iron... kthxbye

28/7 took some maternity photos at Willunga (see previous post)

29/7 headache after drinking diet root beer?

30/7 very bad sleep quality... kept sleeping and waking up multiple times through the night and morning. had headache again but did not take any diet drinks today. maybe the headache is not related to the diet drinks

31/7 routine midwife appointment today. my BP was 105/55, on the low side. apparently low BP can cause headaches too... is that the cause of my random headaches? fundal height is 31cm, Atty's heartrate is 145bpm. she is as active as ever... swimming around and doesn't like to be squished. i always thought the round bulge on the right side of my tummy is Atty's head but the midwife said it's her butt hahaha. i have been patting that side thinking it's her head for a long while hehee.

2nd Pregnancy: 28-33 Weeks Updates

Week 28 17/8: 55.3kg. pubic bone hurts and lots of pressure especially when i stand and walk. wonder if its coz Arry's head got lodged ...
